INVISALIGN ISN’T THE PERFECT SOLUTION FOR EVERYONE, BUT if you’re a good candidate, there are LOTS of reasons for choosing Invisalign—and they’re not all simply about going metal-free!

Clear, removable Invisalign trays are a less invasive orthodontic treatment method. With Invisalign technology, your teeth can be straightened without causing inconveniences to your daily life.

Benefits You Probably Didn’t Expect

The most obvious difference between Invisalign treatment and braces is their appearance, but there’s more to it than that. For example...
Less office visits. We’ll see you only once every 4 to 6 weeks.
Invisalign trays can sometimes double as whitening trays or protective mouth gear for sports.
The removable trays allow you to brush and floss normally, which results in better oral health during treatment.
You can enjoy the foods you choose, without the dietary restrictions of braces.
The smooth plastic trays are more comfortable, so you won’t deal with the irritation metal brackets sometimes cause.

Straight Teeth Provide More Than A Great Look

Aesthetics aside, having straight teeth is important for a number of reasons. Straight teeth are easier to clean and floss. They also guard against uneven wear, and painful TMD problems. Straighter teeth allow for more efficient chewing and enhance food digestion. Straight teeth can even cause better pronunciation and speech!

Is Invisalign Is Right For You?

Schedule an appointment with us! We’d love to see what we can do to improve and preserve your beautiful smile. Thanks in advance for your trust. We hope to see you soon!

Last Friday, we celebrated the new year. Oroville and Paradise Gentle Dentistry teams met at Gold Country Casino for a dinner, a great game and some stories.

The game was a hoot! Everyone had a ticket (including team members + 1s) with a number. Dr. Parrott would call out that number and that person could pick out a beautifully wrapped gift from a giant pile of gifts and open it in front of everyone OR steal a gift another team member had opened. All the gifts were great. There were $50 gas cards, gift cards to fancy restaurants, a nights stay in Reno, Disney and Marvel waffle makers, griddles, etc.

One member got the biggest wrapped present, and inside she found a bunch of 5x* Swag.

*5x is a program that Oroville and Paradise Gentle Dentistry is a part of which teaches team members how to strengthen their individual role in their work, but also in every other part of their life. It also teaches how to create a community within the office and helps remind everyone to be 5 X (times) greater than they are. The program has really helped the office grow.

NO ONE wanted to steal Katie's gift. At the end of the gift stealing game, Dr. Parrott and Alexis presented Katie with the biggest gift of the night! One week stay at a Caribbean resort! They explained that out of all the gifts, they wanted to help the team understand that the 5x swag represented something that they really love and treasure. 5x has helped them accomplish so much more.

Dinner was great. Gold Country Casino had a buffet with salad, rolls, chicken, beef, vegetables and we also had a chocolate fountain!

Last year, the offices focused on growth. Paradise Gentle Dentistry had a major office renovation, and Oroville Gentle Dentistry focused on increasing numbers. This year the focus is changing to strengthening and growing the team.

This party was a great way to start the year.

We are always looking forward to Veteran's day. It's our tradition to offer Free Dental Exams and Cleanings to Veterans on November 11.

Last year, we had several members of the community who are veterans reserved their appointment. On November 11th, they arrived proudly wearing their colors and uniforms. They got their teeth cleaned and had their teeth examined by the doctor. Outside the office we invited people in the community to display their classic cars and our team members served hot dogs and apple pie.

Clothes, cosmetics and cute hairstyles aren't the only things that make a person beautiful. Your smile is the most important part of your appearance to invest in.
Enter cosmetic dentistry. A bright, well-aligned smile is powerful. It exudes confidence and most importantly a beautiful smile shows people who you really are.
Let's talk Cosmetic Dentistry:
Veneers:
Veneers can change your smile significantly. During the process, porcelain veneers are custom fitted over your real teeth. The color, shape and length of your teeth can be completely changed, customized to your perfect smile.
Dental implants:
If you’ve lost teeth due to an injury, illness, or if certain teeth are simply beyond repair, dental implants are the solution for you. They look, feel and function just like your own teeth.
Porcelain Crowns:
Porcelain crowns are a natural-looking alternative to metal crowns. The porcelain covering adds strength and a natural look. You can blend color, change shape and rebuild the teeth.
Dental bonding:
If you have an individual tooth that has lost a small amount of structure, has decay or an old mercury filling, or if you have front teeth that are off just a bit, we can use a realistic-looking tooth colored bonding material to repair your tooth/teeth and make your smile like new!
Teeth Whitening:
Too much coffee or tea, perhaps? Or simply tired of a less-than-bright smile? We can give you bright, white teeth in one visit that will make a profound difference in how you show the world who you are.
At Oroville Gentle Dentistry, we have extensive experience with all of these procedures and would love to talk more about them with you...just give us a call!

We had the opportunity to attend the 5X Summit in Atlanta in October. 5X Summit was hosted by Jay Geier the CEO of Scheduling Institute, a training service for dentists.  They teach us fundamental qualities that help us grow together and take care of our patients.

Several team members from Oroville Gentle Dentistry and Paradise Gentle Dentistry attended the Summit. This is what they have to share with you about what they learned.

Located in front of the ears on each side of the head, is the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The TMJ serves many purposes such as chewing food, speaking and yawning. It moves side-to-side and up and down. The joint functions like a sliding hinge, making it one of the few unique areas of your body.

Symptoms of TMJ

If you suspect you're suffering from TMJ, let us know on your next visit or contact us by phone to make an appointment. We will examine your mouth and can take X-rays to better analyze your condition. Common TMJ symptoms include:
A clicking noise upon opening and closing the mouth.
    Difficulty biting or chewing.
    Earaches and headaches.
    The jaw locks frequently.
    Jaw pain.
    Dull facial pain.

Chronic TMJ Jaw

If the condition becomes chronic, your jaw pain can persist due to osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, tooth loss, nighttime grinding and even bone disease. Chronic TMJ can affect not only parts of the joint, but the adjacent muscles as well. That means treatment options will vary depending on your specific issue.

What Can You Do?

Until we determines a course of treatment, you can take your own steps to lessen the pain. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, which can help stop brushing pain caused by enamel loss or root exposure.
TMJ jaw pain affects people in a variety of ways. Thus, there's no singular cure-all. However, from a nighttime mouth guard to anti-inflammatory medicine, there are many ways to help in the treatment for those who suffer from any level of irritation.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, you've probably heard that before.... but an apple a day is also very good for your dental health as well.
So, you may ask...what about all the other foods that go CRUNCH during the Holiday season? What's bad for my teeth? Let's take a look at some of the worst crunchy foods that you might eat during the day.

Bad Crunch

Snack Foods: Foods like crackers, potato chips and pretzels can be really bad for your teeth. Why? Because when you chew these types of foods, they can get stuck in your teeth. When the carbohydrates they contain convert to sugar, it can damage the enamel on your teeth. Brushing and flossing after eating these snack foods to remove the damaging particles will help.

Hard Candies: An enemy to your teeth! If it's candy you crave, don't go for the hard candies...they are the worst things for your mouth. The longer they are in your mouth, the more time it gives the sugars to wreak havoc on you enamel. The sugar in this type of candy can also stick to your teeth ad cause decay.

Good Choices

Remember, eating healthy during the holidays is important for your overall well being and dental health. Try sticking to foods that are good for you, instead of reaching for that next Christmas goodie. You will have a Merrier Christmas for choosing the right food to crunch on.

  • fresher breath over just using string floss.
  • healthier, pink gum tissue.
  • No build up of gunk and bacteria between my teeth
  • Improved dental visits.

Makes a great gift!

Teeth tend to naturally discolor as we age, but besides that, there are several different ways for teeth to become discolored. Some of the causes of darkened teeth are genetics, antibiotics, and certain foods. Internal tooth discoloration is caused by changes in the enamel of the tooth and the dentin. External tooth discoloration is caused mainly by foods and tobacco. The main causes of tooth yellowing are smoking, foods with tannins, coffee, tea, carrots, oranges, and other foods. To avoid excessive yellowing, stay away from these factors, and brush daily.

The best food choices for the health of your mouth include cheeses, chicken or other meats, nuts, and milk. These foods are thought to protect tooth enamel by providing the calcium and phosphorus needed to remineralize teeth (a natural process by which minerals are redeposited in tooth enamel after being removed by acids).
Other food choices include firm/crunchy fruits (for example, apples and pears) and vegetables. These foods have a high water content, which dilutes the effects of the sugars they contain, and stimulate the flow of saliva (which helps protect against decay by washing away food particles and buffering acid). Acidic foods, such as citrus fruits, tomatoes, and lemons, should be eaten as part of a larger meal to minimize the acid from them.
